Book Review: Hallowed games by C.N Crawford
Vampires, witches, death, romance.
In a world where witches exist but are captured, tortured and killed, Hallowed games follows the POV of a witch with a deadly power as she is forced to partake in trials held by a religious order in an effort to save her life. When the Raven Lord himself seems to take a fancy to her, she learns some dangerous secrets, about him, and others.
This was my first ever ARC off of book sirens. And honestly there is a lot I can say about it ( but I hate giving spoilers 😜), but I want to start with what you can see. This beautiful cover! I know they tell you not to judge a book by it's cover, but is it not the cover that catches our eyes in the first place? Well, this cover definitely caught my eye. Among all the fantasy romance books I was recommended by the site, this is the one that had stood out the most. So naturally when I got the ok to read it, I jumped right in.
Immediately, did not know what the hell was going on, and usually in books I'll complain about that. Unless done a certain way. And this was definitely done in an amazing way. From the very beginning, your roped into the violence and drama that has yet to come. Elowen entrance alone was amazing and very well done. And each and every character introduced afterwards was so full of personality and detail that picture them in my head was no problem.
The world she creates is equally amazing. So many details out in to help clearly picture the world and the way the people in it live. I felt the fear the order instilled, the anguish of those who died or lost someone.
There were some parts I felt were a little rushed but they are small.
It's book like these that make me glad I started to read ARCs. Otherwise I probably would've never even found it.
And now I'm hoping you do to.
Hallowed games is currently available on Amazon in paperback, hardback and on Kindle Unlimited.
I definitely recommend you give this one a shot.
